Butler Rose are currently representing a Torquay based manufacturer, who have a current requirement for an Engineering Manager.

The role is wide-ranging in scope but the primary responsibilities will be to manage the Manufacturing Engineering function across the site, leading on the development of new products for the release to manufacture following their design phase, managing cost improvement objectives and technical support of the operational function. Duties include:

  • Provide technical support to manufacturing with respect to product/process design and functionality.
  • Retain the relationship with the Product Management and Product Engineering to ensure constant collaboration. Involvement with projects and in some instances take the lead with customer communication.
  • Manage technical issue escalation process from manufacturing, with the appropriate level of on hand shop floor support in each production area.
  • Drive implementation and maintenance of LEAN and CI practices across the organisation.
  • Achieve budget for labour and material cost reduction as determined in agreement with Site objectives.
  • Drive disruptive cost reduction plans into existing processes.
  • Resolve issues with manufacturing when product quality risks are identified.
  • Manage transfer of NPI to release to manufacture, optimising cost through process, material, and yield in collaboration with Product & Development Engineering and Manufacturing.
  • Support the training of new and existing processes, raising training and process corrective actions with manufacturing when required.
  • Establish and maintain best practice operational process for clean rooms.
  • Drive culture of Manufacturing Engineering excellence
  • Support Quality, Supply Chain & Manufacturing Managers ensuring all aspects of the business support the needs of our customers.

Experience/Skills

  • 5+ years' experience in an engineering or manufacturing leadership role.
  • Experience in Lean Six Sigma and Lean Principles in volume manufacturing essential
  • Experience in manufacturing environment essential.
  • Proven internal presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills.
  • Innovation and Creativity
