We have an exciting opportunity for a Manual Machinist/Fitter in Gillingham for our client who specialises in the manufacturing and supply of technologies and solutions for internal combustion, hybrid, and electric vehicle products. You will be responsible for fitting various fuel injection equipment to engines, including, pumps, injectors, low-pressure fuel systems and high-pressure common rail systems.

As a Manual Machinist & Fitter, you will…

  • Adhere to company beliefs, policies, high standards, and process SOPs
  • Keep team and senior management abreast of current order and workload statuses
  • Be actively involved in team meetings around production and order status reporting
  • Be accountable for carrying out engineering tasks using site machines and hand tools
  • Be involved and hands-on with front-line maintenance and basic fault finding where applicable on-site tools/installs
  • Be involved in the active designing and manufacturing of fabricated components using Gas, MIG, TIG, Plasma cutting sheet cutter and bending equipment
  • Aid the strip down and rebuilds/maintenance of diesel engine systems
  • Fit various fuel injection equipment to the engine, including, pumps, injectors, low-pressure fuel systems and high-pressure common rail systems.

Person Specifications for Manual Machinist & Fitter

  • Must have a minimum of B-Tec level 3, NVQ Level 3, HNC or equivalent engineering qualification that is both current and valid
  • Must be self-driven and willing to learn new skills and stretch capabilities
  • Must hold excellent communication skills both verbally and in written form
  • Ideally a track record of 2 years of experience working within a similar role
  • Must be able to read and understand engineering drawings and specs
  • The requirement to understand GD&T (geometric dimensioning and tolerancing) is essential to this role
  • Previous experience in CAD/CAM software would be highly useful, but not essential for the start of the role
  • The ability to adapt and use a variety of manufacturing and assembly techniques is a requirement for this role
  • Ability to use a variety of measuring techniques and types of equipment is required to be successful in this job role
