Management Accountant

Management Accountant / Wirral / Salary: £45,000 - £50,000

We are currently working with our client who are an established, PE backed business based in Birkenhead, Wirral. Our client has a fantastic reputation within their sector, and they are now seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join their expanding team!

The Management Accountant plays a pivotal role in providing financial insights, analysis, and support to management in making informed business decisions. Reporting to the Financial Controller, the Management Accountant will be responsible for preparing financial reports, conducting variance analysis, and assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities.

Key Responsibilities:

• Working amongst a small team of management accountants, you will be responsible for coordinating and overseeing the month-end close process for your allocated cost centres.
• Prepare month-end close process, including journal entries, account reconciliations, and accruals, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting.
• You will conduct reconciliations to verify the accuracy and identify any discrepancies.
• You will prepare monthly financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow. Analysing financial performance against budgets and forecasts, investigating variances, and identifying key drivers to provide actionable insights to management.
• Conduct detailed cost analysis by department.
• Support with ad hoc analysis - you will undertake special projects and ad hoc analysis as requested by management to address specific business needs or challenges.

Experience/Skills:

• Fully Qualified or working towards, CIMA/ACCA/ACA
• Proven experience working in a similar Management Accounts role, with reconciliations experience.
• Strong proficiency in Excel (V-look ups, pivot tables and SUMIF)
• Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and integrity in financial reporting and analysis.
