Location: Portsmouth, Hampshire

Part time Hours: 15 to 22.5 hours per week 2/3 days

Salary: £38,000 to £42,000 pa pro rata depending on experience

Our client is a successful technical management consultancy providing technical expertise to projects in the Ministry of Defence. They also have experience working in the nuclear, defence, space, and transport sectors in the UK. Our client is located in Portsmouth and is looking for an experienced Management Accountant part time 2/3 days. You would be reporting to the Finance Manager, and you will work as part of a small team in this newly created role to support the finance function as a whole. The successful candidate could be Qualified ACCA, CIMA or Part Qualified AAT or QBE would be considered.

Please note: Candidates will need to either hold a current SC clearance or be willing and eligible to undergo a Security Clearance check (SC level) upon starting their employment with the company. To gain SC clearance you will normally need at least 5 years’ UK residency.

Management Accountant Responsibilities will include:

• Ultimate responsibility of maintaining the bookkeeping on Xero, ensuring records are accurate and up to date.
• Preparation of monthly management accounts including control of journals depreciation, prepayments, accruals etc.
• Running supplier payment runs ensuring invoices are processed and paid on time in all cases.
• Assisting in maintaining company cash flow spreadsheet with expected and actual overheads.
• Involvement in budget setting for departments, continual monitoring and review on spend, reporting to Finance Manager.
• Involvement in the new Information Management System currently at the design phase.
• Possible involvement in payroll month end in due course.

Management Accountant Expertise Required:

• Previous experience with Xero bookkeeping is highly desirable.
• Experience working in a fast-paced finance role, used to working to deadlines and producing month end reports.
• Attention to detail with a high level of accuracy at all times.
• Organised individual able to plan and coordinate own work in order to meet deadlines.
• Must work well as part of a small team.
