Pay rate: £21 per hour

An exciting opportunity has come up for Malayalam Bilingual Support Worker to join a team. We are looking for people who believe they have the qualities and skills needed to support our children and maintain stability. You will need to be able to establish and maintain relationships with the young people to challenge their existing patterns of behaviour. You will create a culture and ethos within the home in which the needs of the young people are paramount, and they are encouraged to develop, mature and grow. In addition, you will work proactively with appropriate stakeholders to assess the individual’s needs and ensure positive outcomes.  This is a fantastic opportunity for candidates who are committed to enhancing the lives vulnerable people and their families. We are seeking practitioners who can provide a positive support . Working 14.8/week (2 days, 7.4 hours)
You will be working within the Ethnic minority and Traveller Achievement service (EMTAS), who have over 20 years experience supporting Devon schools with improving learning outcomes and attendance for ethnically diverse and English as an additional language (EAL) children.

In this role - which may include travel the local authority - you will:

-Build affective relationships with schools and staff - Provide bilingual support in the classroom, one-to-one or small group support to Malayalam speaking children across all key stages (primary and secondary)
- Prepare resources for delivering one-to-one or small group support - Monitor children's language development - assessing and reporting on their progress
- Support professionals and parents as a Malayalam interpreter in meetings and through communication between school and families
- Write pupil visit notes, supporting the development of team resources and guidance, and translate key documents - Be involved in cultural celebrations days
- Deliver Home language assessments All travel time, direct contact with children/schools and administrative time is covered within your working hours and you will be paid for mileage expenses.
This successful candidate 
- Must be fluent in Malayalam - You must be able to read, write and speak confidently in English
- Should enjoy children's interactions and be confident to interact with school staff and your team
- Due to the nature of this role you should have a valid driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Have a level 3 qualification in Childcare (or equivalent)
-Previous experience of Support Work
-An accreditation in completing specialist assessment (e.g. PAMS, AIM) Desirable
-Enhanced DBS

Training:
- You will be able to shadow a fellow bilingual support worker and learn the role. You will be supported with all aspects of the role.
- You will receive safeguarding, language development and school structure training. - You will be supported through one of the teams Lead advisory teachers
- You will have access to bilingual dictionaries, Malayalam reading books and other resources.
