Machine Shop Team Leader

A fantastic job opportunity has arisen for a Machine Shop Team Leader to join my client, based in Kent.

The Machine Shop Team Leader, based in Kent will report into the Operations Manager and you will lead the team within the machine shop to manufacture small batch, special and prototype items ensuring that the maximum utilisation is achieved through the effective deployment and management of the CNC Setters and Operators.

Main duties & responsibilities:

1. Lead by example and provide leadership to the machine shop team.
2. Program, set and operate CNC Mills and Lathes and act as mentor and trainer on their use.
3. Operate manual lathes and mills and act as mentor and trainer on their use.
4. Create work packages using the ERP system and monitor progress through the shop.
5. Carry out Daily Start Up Meetings and allocate and manage tasks assigned to the team to meet the requirements of the Plan.
6. Monitor and report on the situation relating to the performance of the team.
7. Measure and record appropriate metrics to support relevant KPIs. Use these KPIs to determine appropriate actions to improve the performance of the team.

The successful Machine Shop Team Leader, based in Kent will have experience in the manufacture of machined components in a small batch or prototype environment and will have experience in leading a team.

You will also:

- Be able to understand exploded drawings and adhere to written work instructions and route cards.

- Able to create work packages.

- Able to program and set a wide range of CNC mills and lathes.

- Able to use manual lathes and mills.
