Teaching Assistant - SEN
  • Hourly Salary: £12.31 - £13.16 (£21,995.67 - £23,514.45 actual salary dependent on qualifications) + £1000 WELCOME BONUS!*
  • Location: Effingham, Surrey
  • Job Type: Term time only, 40 hours per week

We are looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to support our teacher within the class at our school in the beautiful scenic Effingham, Surrey. This role is ideal for someone who has a passion for making a difference in the lives of autistic students aged between 11 – 16, who have associated behavioural and communication difficulties, and some with multiple learning difficulties.

Your daily routine with the School:
  • Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of pupils in accordance with the school’s policies.
  • Providing feedback on pupil behaviour, relationships, and attitudes.
  • Supporting positive behaviour and concentration levels, adapting to changes or escalations in behaviour.
  • Establishing positive relationships with pupils to support them in feeling safe and enabling them to enjoy and learn.
  • Promoting and encouraging independence and personal development while maintaining high expectations of behaviour.
  • Implementing and adjusting learning activities as agreed with the teacher, reinforcing learning concepts.
  • Supporting learning by arranging/providing resources for lessons/activities under the direction of the teacher.
  • Implementing learning activities and experiences, supporting the delivery of a broad and balanced curriculum.
What's needed from you?
  • Experience working with SEN in an employed or voluntary setting.
  • A recognised qualification at Level 2 or above in Support work for Teaching and Learning in Schools or equivalent is desirable.
  • GCSE Maths and English Language qualification minimum Grade 4 or equivalent is essential.
  • Understanding of Safeguarding principles and Child Protection procedures.
  • Knowledge or experience of pupils with SEN or SEMH/ASD.
  • Ability to provide consistent support to children.
  • Positive and creative in meeting pupils’ individual needs.
  • Ability to take part in the school’s behaviour support approach, including physical intervention where necessary.
