Export & Shipping Manager - Poole

We have an exciting opportunity for a Export & Shipping Manager to join a busy team based in Poole.

Our client is a well-established, family run business that distributes products to retailers throughout the UK whilst also handling distribution on a global scale.

The main purpose of the Export & Shipping Manager is to ensure that the supply chain is efficient and effective throughout the organisation, encompassing distribution, movement and storage of goods from manufacturers and suppliers to the end user.

This role requires an individual with the ability to work with other areas in the business to ensure the distribution of products efficiently and on time, sharing expertise, knowledge, and working as part of a team.

Key responsibilities of the role include:

  • Build and maintain relationships with factories, encompassing paperwork, container loading and meeting the time requirements for vessels shipping
  • Initiate business opportunities with new freight forwarders and third-party fulfilment companies to ensure best price
  • Manage third party warehouse fulfilment services and ensure all quality and performance standards are maintained with external logistics service providers
  • Drive process improvements by evaluating current Supply Chain to increase productivity, work practice
  • Provide regular tracking documents so relevant teams are updated on stock delivery expectations

Essential Skills and Attributes:

  • Previous experience of working within Logistics or a similar role along with competency of managing projects and delivering to timescales
  • Strong planning, organisational and administrative skills - a logical and systematic approach to work
  • Knowledge and understanding of shipping manifests, international freight and supply chain
  • Strong negotiation skills for achieving best price
  • Commercial and financial awareness to manage budgets and keep costs down
  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation communication
  • Highly competent in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Outlook and Word
  • Knowledge of Sage Accounts 50 is an advantage but not essential
  • The ability to be part of a team - committed to working collaboratively with internal and external teams.

Hours of work: 09.00am - 17.30pm Monday - Friday
