Main Purpose of Job:

Hunter Mason’s client is a leading provider of bespoke, temporary structures, event overlay, and staging for events across the music, sports, cultural, and public sectors.

As the Logistics Manager, your role is crucial in coordinating all crew, plant and crane logistics for the business. This involves, but not limited to, allocating suitable crew members based on their skills, availability, location, and experience. Once allocated, the Logistics Manager is in key in collaborating with the Project Delivery teams to ensure all logistical elements such for the crew such as travel, accommodation, visa management etc. are in place along with supporting with all Plant & Crane requirements the project sites have. The Logistics Manager also works closely with the HR and Compliance Teams to recruitment, train and build a highly skilled team of Core Crew.

What you will be doing:

  • Liaise and actively engage with the Project Delivery & Development Teams, Crew Bosses, Construction Managers, and Yard Operations to ensure appropriate crew numbers with suitable skill sets for each project, both in advance and during the active site period.
  • Collaborate with the wider Logistics and Human Resources teams to ensure they have information on all active crew members for recruitment and contract creation
  • Ensure the daily logistics of moving crew to and from site locations are well-organized and communicated, both within the crew and between project sites.
  • Liaise with Construction Managers and Crew Bosses to address minor HR issues and escalate larger issues to the attention of the Head of Logistics, HR, and/or project teams.
  • Development and Operational control of the Resource Platform, maintaining daily data entry for effective crew control and tracking by various managers and departments.
  • Ensure the Project Delivery Team provides the correct information to allocated crew before commencement on-site.
  • Report directly to the Head of Logistics, highlighting any skills/crew gaps, issues, and providing weekly feedback on Crew Logistics.
  • Manage the Crew Logistics workload efficiently.
  • Develop and manage a Crew Training program.
  • Work with HR to actively recruit new crew members, conducting interviews for required roles and providing input into expected codes of conduct.
  • Ensure all tasks allocated to the Logistics Manager within a project delivery setup are completed efficiently and timely to the highest standards.
  • The Logistics Manager will also be required to work with Project Delivery Teams on Plant & Crane requirements for UK-based projects and support International Project teams with Plant & Crane requirements globally.

The Skills and Experience you need:

  • Excellent IT skills and a willingness to build/improve/manage the IT-based Resource Management system.
  • Excellent timekeeping, time management, and resource planning should be a core skill for the person undertaking this role.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in dealing with multiple crew members, both employed and self-employed, with a strong character able to manage crew issues when required.
  • Experience in working on mid-level strategic planning of a Crew Logistics Department to drive improvements and efficiency, reporting to director-level line management.
  • Basic understanding of HR requirements in relation to crew.
  • Ability to read, understand, and collate any required information from the project-based schedules and programs.
  • Collaborative and team-based work ethic, experienced in working with different departments across the organization to ensure suitable Crew Logistics planning is undertaken.
  • Excellent personal presentation, setting an example across the organization.
