Locum Advanced Nurse Practitioner (ANP) - GP and Urgent Care Centre, Walk-In - Outside IR35

  • £50 per hour (Outside IR35)
  • Birmingham, B18
  • 08:00-20:00 or 12:00-18:00
  • Shifts currently through to the End of May

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Locum Advanced Nurse Practitioner to join our team at a GP and Walk-In Urgent Care Centre. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality primary healthcare services to patients with acute and chronic illnesses, injuries, and minor ailments. The role involves independently assessing, diagnosing, and treating patients, as well as prescribing medication and initiating referrals when necessary. The successful candidate will work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to ensure the delivery of comprehensive and patient-centered care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments of patients presenting with a wide range of acute and chronic conditions.
  • Formulate accurate diagnoses based on clinical assessment, history-taking, and diagnostic tests.
  • Develop and implement evidence-based treatment plans in collaboration with patients, considering their individual needs and preferences.
  • Prescribe medications and treatments within the scope of practice and in accordance with local protocols and guidelines.
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests such as laboratory investigations, imaging studies, and electrocardiograms.
  • Provide health education and counselling to patients and their families regarding disease prevention, management, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Assess and manage minor injuries, wounds, and minor surgical procedures as appropriate.
  • Recognize and initiate appropriate referrals to other healthcare professionals or services, including specialists and community resources.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date medical records using electronic health record systems.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and clinical audits to enhance patient care and service delivery.
  • Adhere to professional standards, clinical guidelines, and legal requirements governing nursing practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development activities to enhance clinical knowledge, skills, and competencies.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse with valid licensure and advanced practice certification as a Nurse Practitioner.
  • Master’s degree or equivalent in Advanced Nursing Practice.
  • Previous experience working as an Advanced Nurse Practitioner in a primary care, urgent care, or similar setting preferred.
  • Proven clinical competence in assessing, diagnosing, and managing common acute and chronic conditions across the lifespan.
  • Proficiency in prescribing medications and treatments in accordance with local formularies and regulations.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to build rapport and establish therapeutic relationships with patients.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development and evidence-based practice.
