We are seeking a dedicated Life Insurance Underwriter to join the team in a fast growing and successful Insurtech Life MGA.

Reporting to the Chief Risk Officer (CRO), the successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Evaluate applications that fall outside the parameters of our online underwriting engine. This includes thoroughly examining initial submissions, responding to requests for additional information, and processing amendments.
  • Provide accurate indications of underwriting decisions and monitor the quality and appropriateness of the underwriting philosophy and procedures through audits.
  • Setting pricing indications, determining cover eligibility, establishing premium rates, and formulating exclusion policies, always ensuring compliance with company protocols.
  • Set Underwriting limits and underwrite large cases with high sums assured.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with our reinsurance partners

Requirements:

  • Proven working knowledge of Life, Critical Illness, and Income Protection insurance.
  • Understanding of business protection products and financial underwriting requirements.
  • Knowledge of the UK protection market.
  • At least 3 years of experience in medical underwriting for life insurance.
  • Ability to provide fair and balanced underwriting decisions using the appropriate amount of evidence necessary.
  • Organizational skills to meet deadlines and manage client expectations.
  • General knowledge of insurance industry codes and current practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Qualifications:

  • ACII qualified or progress towards the CII would be a plus.

It should be noted that a Competitive Remuneration Package (based on experience, qualifications etc.) is being offered and the role is full time and 100% office based.
