Legal Cashier | Full time and Permanent | London | Hybrid (after probationary period) | Salary up to £32,000

Ashley Kate are proud to be working with our client who are a well established law firm based in London as they search for a Legal Cashier to join their Finance team. Reporting into the Payroll Manager you will working a fast paced and professional environment alongside two other legal cashiers. Initially in this role you will be office based but will offered a hybrid working policy once you have passed the probationary period.

Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of daily payments and processing via Bacs
  • Maintaining and controlling of the office and client bank accounts.
  • Dealing with firm's bankers in relation to Bacs & Chaps transfers of Clients' funds
  • Maintaining/controlling of purchase ledger system and the accounts.payable inbox.
  • Dealing with daily queries raised by suppliers.
  • Provide holiday and sickness cover in agreeing the daily bank reconciliations for the office and client bank accounts.
  • Preparation of payments prior to receipts from the Legal Aid Agency.
  • Processing of staff expenses.
  • Dealing with any accounting functions, which may arise due to absence of another member of staff.

About you:

  • Good numeracy and knowledge of basic accounting practices and procedures.
  • Minimum of 18 months experience working for a law firm/solicitors as a Legal Cashier
  • Good team work and ability to prioritise
  • Ability to learn, use and understand accounting computer and software.
  • Knowledge of Solicitor's Accounts Rules.
  • An understanding of and an ability to carry out procedures as set out in the Accounting Manual.
  • Good communication skills.
