My client is searching for a Legal Cashier to join their Battle, East Sussex offices.
Essential Skills
• Minimum of 2 years Legal Cashier experience
• Knowledge of the Solicitors Accounts rules
• SRA knowledge
• GCSE in Maths at grade C or above or equivalent
• GCSE in English at grade C or above or equivalent
• In depth knowledge of excel spreadsheets
• IT user skills
• Excellent keyboard skills
Desirable Skills
• Legal cashiering qualification
• Experience of using Proclaim and Proclaim Accounts case management software
• Knowledge of Leap & Xero would be extremely beneficial.
Key Tasks
• Ensuring that office, client and nominal account ledgers are updated daily.
• Checking and data entry of private client bills.
• Processing payments on account of fees and disbursements.
• Raising cheques in accordance with fee earners or support staff instructions.
• Taking debit & credit card payments and processing paperwork for same.
• Banking including reconciliation in accordance with SRA accounts rules.
• Processing incoming and outgoing electronic payments in a timely manner and maintaining accurate records and notifications.
• Maintenance of the firm’s petty cash system.
• Providing assistance to and cover for other members of the Cashiers team.
• Ensuring that transactions and processes comply with the SRA Accounts Rules, HMRC regulations and other relevant legislation and guidance.
