Our client is a well-respected law firm, with over 188 years of providing legal services. They are a growing team and seeking an experienced Legal Assistant to join their Court of Protection Property and Finance team. The ideal candidate would need to have a broad understanding of legal matters, transactions, client requests, and the demands of your team often connected to vulnerable clients and sensitive or complex issues. The successful candidate will be able to manage affairs and make decisions on behalf of people who are unable to do so for themselves. This is a fantastic opportunity to join an established business and the successful candidate would ideally have previous experience with legal administration and accounting.
  
Key Responsibilities
  • Be the first point of contact for existing clients, their families, support teams, or third parties.
  • Managing new inquiries, taking initial details, and gathering relevant information to assign to the appropriate fee earner to take further.
  • Support the managing fee earner with; care home visits, managing properties, managing utilities, and household bills, preparing for tax returns, and obtaining online quotes for products and services.
  • You will need to prepare all deputyship accounts for sign-off by the Senior Solicitor.
  • Keep track of key dates.
  • Prepare files to go out to external costs’ draftsperson.
  • To action any incoming emails promptly.
  • To be able to provide assistance and legal support to the Court of Protection Property and Finance Team, by managing various tasks and administration on client matters.
  • Prepare routine correspondence.
  • Be able to process client matter invoices generated internally and make appropriate arrangements to settle once approved.
  • Manage the financial budgets and forecasts on behalf of vulnerable people including, but not limited to making claims for welfare benefits and payment of liabilities.
Key Skills & Experience
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Applications.
  • Previous experience with Legal Administration and accounting.
  • Advantageous experience working with vulnerable individuals.
  • Have a broad knowledge of legal matters, transactions, and client requests.
  • Organisational and administrative skills.
  • Rapport and trust.
  • Self-management.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Flexible.

  • Full-time, Monday-Friday.
