Weston College is the regional provider for the Prison Education Framework (PEF) across the South West of England and is now seeking to recruit an outstanding and highly motivated Lecturer in Skills for Life - HMP Dartmoor.


This role is part-time, working 25.9 hours per week.


Day to day duties

  • To deliver a high-quality curriculum, delivering Functional Skills courses or an alternative as led by the Weston College management team.• Preparation, assessment and marking.
  • Differentiation of learning to meet individual learners’ needs including providing extra support for learners with LDD needs.
  • Developing and maintaining a full course file including comprehensive scheme of learning and lesson planning.

Required skills and qualifications

  • All candidates for teaching posts must possess a recognised Teaching Qualification, or be prepared to gain within the first two years of service, with the assistance of the College.
  • Knowledge and experience of current teaching and learning strategies.
  • Excellent team working, communication and interpersonal skills.

About HMP Dartmoor

Located in Devon, HMP Dartmoor is a Category C men's prison which is owned by the Duchy of Cornwall and operated by His Majesty's Prison Service. NVQ or City & Guilds Vocational training is provided, including courses in brickwork, plastering and painting and decorating. Other courses offered include art, foundation cookery and functional skills. Residents can also pursue education, from basic skills to Open University courses. Dartmoor Prison emphasizes rehabilitation through various offending behaviour programs. It offers a unique, dynamic and rewarding environment for individuals to work and make a difference in the lives of others.
