CloudStone Education are recruiting for an independent school based in Surrey, who are looking to hire a Learning Support Assistant on a permanent basis.

As Learning Support Assistant, you will play a pivotal role in providing tailored support to students with a range of learning needs, including those with special educational needs (SEN) and disabilities. Working closely with experienced teaching staff, you will contribute to creating an inclusive learning environment where all students can reach their full potential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with SEN and disabilities across various subjects and activities
  • Assist in the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs), collaborating closely with the SENCO and classroom teachers
  • Foster a positive and nurturing learning environment where students feel valued, respected, and supported in their educational journey
  • Support students in developing essential skills, promoting independence, and enhancing their self-esteem and confidence
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure the holistic development and well-being of students
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and contribute to the ongoing assessment and evaluation of support strategies

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young adults, particularly those with SEN and disabilities, is desirable but not essential
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, colleagues, and parents
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting the diverse needs of learners
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and the school environment
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
