Milk Education are working in partnership with a mixed Secondary Academy for ages 11 to 18 in Enfield who are seeking to appoint a committed and enthusiastic Learning Support Assistant to join their team and support the school in improving the life chances of pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs.

The successful candidate will work closely with both staff and pupils in various subject areas, supporting the learning of pupils with SEND across our school curriculum. The role will include delivering and monitoring small group sessions with pupils, as well as feeding back to families and working closely with teachers. 

As a Learning Support Assistant, you will connect directly with the brilliant pupils and young people we care for, helping to make sure they get the very best from their education. 

About the role:

  • Liaise with staff and other relevant professionals and provide information about pupils as appropriate.
  • Plan, Prepare and deliver specified learning activities to individuals, small groups and/or classes modifying and adapting activities as necessary under the direction and supervision of a teacher.
  • Develop independence in our SEN students using metacognitive strategies to help them become self-regulated learners
  • Take small group intervention sessions.
  • Provide pastoral care to pupils, supporting pupils in social and emotional well-being, reporting problems to the teacher as appropriate.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Confidence, enthusiasm and a passion for learning.
  • Excellent English skills (clear written and spoken English) along with good reading, writing and numeracy skills.
  • The ability to build good working relationships with children, teachers, parents and carers.
  • Experience of working with children with Special Education Needs (SEN), particularly Secondary children on the Autism Spectrum.
  • The ability to manage a small group of children with complex social communication needs.
  • The ability to promote positive behaviour in a nurturing environment is essential.
