Job Description: We are currently seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join our team in Luton. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide additional assistance to students with special educational needs (SEN) or those requiring extra support to achieve their full potential.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN or other additional needs.
  • Assist in the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Support students in accessing the curriculum and engaging in classroom activities.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment conducive to student progress and development.
  • Collaborate with teaching staff and other LSAs to plan and deliver tailored interventions.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and SENCOs as required.
  • Promote independence and self-confidence in students, empowering them to succeed academically and socially.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the challenges faced by students with SEN and the ability to provide appropriate support.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in dealing with diverse learning needs and behaviors.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work effectively in a dynamic school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in education, SEN, or related fields would be advantageous.
