Classroom Support is delighted to be working with a fantastic school in South Ockendon. We are currently supporting them in their efforts to recruit a highly experienced Learning Mentor, particularly experienced with supporting pupils with various forms of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and/or supporting pupils with challenging behaviour or Social, Emotional Mental Health (SEMH).

The school is a lovely Primary School based in South Ockendon that has a separate provision for supporting pupils with various forms of SEN & SEMH. Pupils in the provision range from Reception to Year 6 and all have some form of SEN including Autism, ADHD and other conditions such as Sensory Modulation Disorder.

The provision also supports pupils with significant learning and behavioural needs and allocates Learning Mentors to support pupils on a 1:2:1 basis.

The ideal Learning Mentor will have a significant amount of experience supporting pupils with various forms of SEN such as ASC and ADHD and will have experience of working with challenging pupils and be able to expertly utilise practiced behaviour management techniques.

The specifications of the role are as follows:

  • Monday to Friday - 8:30am to 3:30pm (term-time only).
  • £85-95 per day.
  • Weekly pay.
  • Temporary to Permanent (Temp period 12-14 academic weeks).
  • To supervise and provide 1:2:1 educational support for a child with SEN or a challenging behaviour pupil.
  • To provide support for individual pupils inside and outside of class to help them interact with others and to engage in classroom activities.
  • To use effective behaviour management techniques.
  • To provide detailed and regular feedback about the pupil(s) to their teacher.
  • To demonstrate patience and resilience when supporting challenging pupils.

To start in April 2024.

The requirements of the role are as follows:

  • You must have a valid enhanced DBS certificate (registered on the update service) or be willing to pay for a new one (£52.20).
  • You must have previous experience supporting pupils with SEN.
  • You must be confident & comfortable working with challenging pupils.
