Daily Rate: £850 Umbrella

Core Purpose
To prepare high level designs and provide architectural guidance for Mobile Services

Summary of the Role and key responsibilities
This role is for Lead Technical Architect in Mobile team for DWP Digital, which is responsible for all things DWP mobile including MDM, Infrastructure, apps, controls and hardware. Product team is multi-disciplinary team and operates in product ownership model with ownership of product strategy, roadmap, budget, policy and delivery.

As a Lead Technical Architect, you will be responsible for leading, delivering and supporting the technical and architecture design.

Main responsibilities include -
- To design and represent architecture solutions

- To maintain Product roadmaps and help maintain the Digital Blueprint

- To provide technical leadership for the team

- To ensure value and quality is achieved for the end-to-end technology solution and user experience of the digital Product/Service

- Working collaboratively with multiple stakeholders (engineers, policy, legal, other Digital colleagues including x-government if necessary) to create solution designs that meet user needs

- Ensure that architecture design artefacts are produced to agreed quality and timescales, and presented effectively at governance forums.

Technical Skills required
Architecture design and modelling techniques, patterns, tools and standards.

Mobile Architecture including Mobile Device Management with Workspace ONE, iOS & Android Device Architecture, fully understand device capabilities, controls and extendibility

Public cloud technologies, cloud hosting, container, and networking design patterns, tools and best practice

Microservice and API-led architecture and integration design tools, techniques and best practice.

Agile / DevOps delivery methodologies and best practice.

Technical authoring skills, particularly for the production of technical design and specification documents

Knowledge and Experience required:
Previous experience in a Lead Technical Architect role in a large and complex IT environment

Experience in infrastructure architect with good knowledge of windows server, networking, firewalls, VPN and load balancers

Experience as application architecture including API driven architecture, NodeJS and CI/CD deployment strategy

Experience with security architecture including Zero trust architecture, data ingress and egress controls, utilizing risk management, cyber resiliency and threat intelligence

Other:
This is the nice to have but not essential criteria
Previous experience of developing mobile app strategy with good understanding of Apple and Google application deployment lifecycle.
