Our client, a leading Government department are now looking to expand their existing in-house Software Development team by recruiting a lead developer.

In this key role you will continue with hands-on development but also take the lead on a team of software engineers where you will provide coaching and mentoring.

Key skills are as follows:

  • Demonstrable track record as a lead developer
  • Strong Java 11+ ability
  • Spring Boot, JPA/Hibernate, REST API's, observability and monitoring, queue technologies and Spring security.
  • Detailed knowledge of best practices such as SOLID principles
  • Experience of building new and evolving microservices with emphasis on high availability and data integrity
  • Highly experienced in test methodologies including unit testing with JUnit, use of TDD, integration tests and end-to-end testing, as a way to promote high quality codebases.
  • Postgres (or other similar relational database) experience including interacting with databases from ORM technologies such as Hibernate.
  • Experience of reviewing code and providing constructive feedback. Ability to interpret static code analysis reports.
  • Experience of agile development practices, specifically including Scrum; and the ways of working including associated tooling (e.g. Jira and Confluence).
  • Knowledge and experience of working with Git and CI/CD
