Role - Lead Data Engineer

Location - Manchester

Work Pattern - Once every 2 weeks in the office

Salary - up to £70,000 plus benefits package including a significant Bonus.

The Company

We are looking for Data Engineer to join a very well-established company and data team. They have a huge amount of data, its one of the strategic pillars of the company and they are heavily investing in a new system, which will be a vast improvement. This role will focus on exploring solutions to maintain, improve, and scale their use of data. They do an awful lot with data, it's a huge asset to the business and they have a large number of people who have access to their data systems for analytical and insight purposes.

The Role

This is an amazing opportunity for an engineer to work on the development and implementation of a new system and exploit the benefits that modern, cloud native data systems can offer.

You will be working in a smaller sub-team of 3 but part of a much wider Data and Analytics function which includes Engineering, Data Science and Analytics.

The offer a hybrid policy, with 1 day every 2 weeks in the office, in Manchester - close to major transport links.

Responsibilities.

  • Lead a team of engineers to create, maintain, and extend the analytics platform.
  • Take ownership of data processing, including implementing frameworks that will allow you to scale data processing.
  • Work with Architecture to ensure the team deliver value for our business.
  • You will drive the adoption of strong CICD practises to reduce risks to deployments.
  • Coach your team in best practice and coding standards. Work with the wider Data Engineering and Group Data team to share ways of working.
  • Champion test-driven quality first engineering practises.
  • Working with governance you will drive solutions that are scalable and robust and ensure we deliver quality data
  • Working with stakeholders - managing the Analytics Platform, ensuring the platform is reliable, scalable, and secure.

Requirements

For this position we are looking for someone who has worked with a similar technology stack and someone who has some leadership experience of a small team or partial team. Does not need to be loads.
