An opportunity has arisen in the Export Sector of Sales & Business Development for an experienced land operator to work within Technical and Military Operations (TMO), providing direct support and operational advice to global land export campaigns.

Salary: circa £80,000 depending on experience

Our Dynamic Working policy allows individuals flexibility around the hours they work and where they work. Typically, for this role you will be in the office when required, otherwise travelling or remote working.

The opportunity:

The purpose of the role is to provide operational advice/expertise and support within the Land segment of the TMO organisation to define, explain and deliver MBDA's product solutions. The role has Client focus to build and develop relationships with Armed Forces (both foreign and domestic) and industry; ensuring best-match technical solutions to meet the range of Export Customer needs; planning and integration to service and deliver the TMO responsibilities across MBDA and different Executive entities; local management to ensure the breadth of export responsibilities are effectively implemented.

The Role:

  • Bringing together in an efficient way vital stakeholders within MBDA to define and deliver the supporting operational evidence/requirement element of the export solution;
  • Promoting MBDA Complex Weapons capabilities to overseas and domestic clients;
  • Understanding the environment/threats and the needs of export Customers;
  • Meeting the needs of export Customers with assured battle winning products;
  • Being the operational interface with elements of UK MoD, Department of Trade and the British Army; conducting Defence and Security Industry Days on deployed vessels;
  • Addressing the opportunities and threats in the land environment;
  • Offering apposite operational/doctrinal advice to our business development teams;
  • Providing direct support to campaign Win Team Leaders in order to achieve successful business sales outcomes;
  • Representing MBDA at trade exhibitions, events and demonstrations

What we're looking for from you:

  • Recent British Army operational command experience with a thorough knowledge of military doctrine, tactics and force structures;
  • Highly experienced in the planning and conduct of land operations, with the appropriately recognised warfare credentials employing complex weapon and management systems;
  • Ideally, with previous responsibility for weapon systems operational requirements.
  • A high degree of self-motivation and drive, and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team;
  • Gravitas, presence, and excellent inter-personal and communication skills to build enduring relationships with clients;
  • Have outstanding presentational skills, with the ability to create and tailor material to suit the expertise of different audiences and their specific cultural requirements to deliver convincing arguments, with the credibility to promote key operational system benefits and relevant product solutions to the export customer;
  • The ability to acquire a thorough knowledge of MBDA products and their positioning with regard to competitors for both current and future land products;
  • Flexible and be prepared to travel overseas – and work to timescales;
  • Capable of gaining the trust and respect of Projects in defining sound and realistic operational solutions for export;
  • Ideally be Stevenage or Bristol based; if Bristol based, willing to spend time in Stevenage as required.
