SRUC Veterinary Services provides disease surveillance and analytical testing via our Veterinary and Analytical Laboratory and our network of disease surveillance hubs situated throughout Scotland. We offer national veterinary disease surveillance for the Scottish Government and collaborate with APHA to support statutory disease control schemes.

Our Veterinary Services Team are experts in animal disease diagnosis, and we process over one million animal and material samples each year.

The Opportunity:

Duties to include:

  • Biochemical analysis of samples using clinical chemistry and immunoassay systems.
  • Manual and automated haematology testing.
  • Preparing and testing veterinary samples for elemental analysis.
  • General Housekeeping.
  • Reviewing Quality Control data.
  • Reporting results in LIMS.
  • The development of new methods/procedures as appropriate.
  • Routine maintenance of laboratory equipment
  • Support staff training
  • To help maintain the current UKAS accreditation status of the laboratory including internal and external quality assessment exercises. To undertake monthly audits.
  • Assist in complying with current health and safety procedures and enhancing the health and safety culture of the laboratory

Minimum Qualifications:

The ideal candidate should be educated to SCQF Level 8 or above in in Chemistry or other applicable degree and/ or significant experience working in a laboratory setting.
