BASIC SALARY: Up to £45,000 dependent on your relevant experience

JOB DESCRIPTION: Laboratory Manager, Chemist - Chemicals, HPLC, GC
 
Reporting to our Technical Director, you'll lead a team of two Laboratory Chemists / Laboratory Technicians, you'll get to remain hands on, working on a variety of chemical testing across a variety of industry sectors whilst running our Laboratory.
 
Because we are a chemical manufacturing site, your team will be working a weekly rotating shift pattern of double days 6-2, 2-10 Monday-Friday to help us cope with our manufacturing demands. Whilst your role is office hours as a standard, we might need you to be flexible in certain circumstances.
 
As our Laboratory Manager, your main responsibilities will be to:
· Lead, mentor and develop your Laboratory team
· Monitor product quality against product specification with production
· Sample all raw materials and finished formulations according to our sampling protocols, test them as required, and quarantine or release them using our bespoke ERP system
· Ensure that all samples are analysed in accordance with client specifications, procedures, and test methods including HPLC and GC
· Fill in the appropriate documentation and ensure your records are complete
· Ensure that your analysis is carried out accurately, efficiently and in a timely manner and that cross-contamination control is maintained
· Maintain all necessary records and archive your batch samples
· Internal auditing
 
PERSON SPECIFICATION: Laboratory Manager, Chemist - Chemicals, HPLC, GC
 
· You will have previously held a relevant supervisory / team leadership / managerial role
· You will have practical experience of working in a similar manufacturing or formulation environment (Quality Control, test laboratory etc) We are open on industry sectors i.e., food, pharmaceutical, hygiene, medical, cosmetics, automotive, aerospace, veterinary, pet care, farming, industrial, cleaning products.
· You will be competent with various instrumental laboratory test techniques (GC, HPLC, viscometers, density meters)
· You will be degree qualified or qualified by experience in a chemistry or suitable scientific related subject
· It would be advantageous if you understand ISO:9001 and auditing
