My client based in Worcester (WR4) is looking to recruit a Lab Technician on a Temp to Perm basis.

You role will be to support the Production, Testing and characterization of metallic alloys, responsible for preparing alloys using in-house metallurgic equipment. As well as operating equipment, you will be asked to create reports on the findings.

The main functions of the role include

- Operating microstructural sample preparation and characterization equipment along chemical analysis and particle size measurements
- Maintain and calibrate sample preparation and characterization equipment
- Communicate with engineers to understand their needs
- Report writing on metallurgical investigations

As a suitable candidate you will offer the following

- Strong attention to detail
- excellent communication skills
- Good IT skills especially MS Office
- Adaptable and flexible
- Ideally qualified in materials science, preferable metallurgy
- previous experience in a similar role
- experience with sample preparation including cutting, polishing, etching, microscopy
- experience of examining metallurgical samples including image analysis
- experience of particle size analysis techniques and chemical analysis techniques
- knowledge of different alloy systems including nickel super alloys, titanium and aluminum
- knowledge of alloy heat treatment
- knowledge of mechanical testing, creep, tension, hardness, toughness, etc.,

This role is 37.5 hours per week with a degree of flexibility for the working hours and the salary on offer is up to £30,000
