City & Capital are delighted to be representing an expanding investment house and commercial property finance lender who have retained our services to appoint an accomplished & suitably qualified KYC & AML Analyst to their growing business at a genuinely exciting time.

This prestigious lender has achieved exponential growth in recent years, doubling in size over each of the last 4 years. Increased investment and ambitions to be the leading player in their sector mean they are expecting to achieve the same feat again for the fifth time this year and so they are actively bolstering key departments ahead of these exciting objectives.

The KYC/AML Analyst role will sit within our clients brand new and growing legal & compliance department and will report in to the company MLRO and General Counsel.

The lenders GC joined the business to acclaim in 2023 and is growing the team and specialisms in line with the needs of the business. Our clients current MLRO joined at the start of this year and takes oversight of all compliance matters that pertain to financial crime for the company. Making up the department are a range of legal specialists, supported by Paralegals and Team Assistants.

Due to growth, the lender is handling more applications, transactions & borrowers than ever before. Due to this, they are keen to identify and appoint an experienced, knowledgeable and ambitious KYC & AML Analyst who can join the team in support of the MLRO.

Key Responsibilities

  • Action all AML/KYC checks to ensure appropriate DD/EDD/CDD is taken
  • Liaise between the business units & MLRO on medium/high risk matters
  • Actively seek aspects such as PEPs or Sanctions through your actions
  • Accurately report on AML/KYC actively & ensure register is kept up to date
  • Provide daily guidance & support to business units on financial crime matters
  • Assist the business in improving/optimising AML/KYC processes & impact
  • Prepare internal suspicious report activity for senior management
  • Escalate any serious matters to the MLRO & FC for immediate action
  • Assist with the broader customer onboarding process
  • Stay up to date with changes to financial crime regulation and governance
  • Advise on matters such as complex structures and SPVs
  • Perform quality checks on work and audit activity within the business
  • Assist with AML/KYC Projects
  • Support broader financial crime training across the business for non-experts

Essential Requirements

  • A minimum 1 years’ experience in a KYC or AML role
  • An excellent knowledge of current financial crime regulation & governance
  • Working knowledge of Money Laundering Regulations 2017
  • Experienced in undertaking EDD/CDD
  • Experienced in identifying PEPs, sanctions & adverse media etc…
  • Excellent research & analytical skills/attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Meticulous team player with excellent attention to detail

Due to the high growth nature of our client, this role would certainly suit an individual who is proactive in approach, quick to spot potential issues or opportunities on the horizon, and comfortable in addressing them.

Equally this particular role comes with lots of opportunity to progress internally too, as the legal & compliance team continues to grow within the scale of broader business growth. Due to this our client is actively seeking an individual who is confident in undertaking this role, but that also has the confidence and motivation to take on more responsibility, once excellent performance is delivered.

The GC is likely to build a KYC/AML team as the company grows and as you will be the first Analyst hire, you stand a great chance of taking on that role, where initial successes can be offered.

Our client is ideally looking to pay to c£50k as a basic salary for the ideal individual, though higher offers may be considered for exceptional talent & experience. This will be complemented by an excellent bonus potential to assist in increasing earnings further still as well as the excellent progression potential for this particular individual.

Due to the highly central and collaborative nature of this role, it will be based in our clients Mayfair offices Monday - Friday.
