Job Description: Relief Kitchen Assistant
To cover in 30 schools across the Bishop Hogarth Catholic Education Trust
Locations: Hartlepool, Stockton-on-Tees, Darlington, Bishop Auckland
Pay £13 an hour
Responsible to: School Cook/Chef/Manager
Purpose of the Job: To assist in the preparation and serving of food in the school kitchen in readiness for lunchtime as directed by the School Cook.
Key roles:
- Assist in the preparation, cooking, and serving of food.
- Follow food hygiene and cleanliness guidelines in the kitchen, adhering to health and safety, food hygiene, and COSHH regulations at all times.
- Operate kitchen equipment as required, following proper training.
- Undertake cleaning and washing up tasks as directed in the kitchen.
- Perform any other duties required by the School Cook/Chef
Criteria:
- Qualifications: Food hygiene certificate.
- Experience: Relevant experience of working with food in a kitchen environment.
- Safeguarding: An enhanced DBS is required for this role.
- Driving: Own transportrequired to travel to schools across the Trust. (You can select the areas that you would be willing to cover.)
- Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to use kitchen equipment (e.g. knives for food preparation).
- Ability to exchange information with other catering staff.
- Interaction with pupils to ascertain their needs.
- Responsible for the safekeeping, cleanliness, and proper use of equipment, supplies, and consumables.
- Assembly/disassembly of equipment used by others.
- Knowledge:
- Familiarity with procedures and equipment for preparing, serving, and assisting with cooking food
- Awareness of relevant hygiene requirements and allergies
When undertaking this role, you would be working for Reed and would be paid weekly for the hours worked.
