Contact Handlers and Dispatchers play a key role in the front-line response for members of the public.

As a 999/101 Contact Handler and Dispatcher, based at the Force Control Room in Maidstone, you'll help to provide first class service to the people of Kent, answering emergency and non-emergency calls and making decisions to determine the most appropriate response. As a Dispatcher you'll deploy police officers to attend routine incidents or deal with real life emergencies.

Essential Skills required:

  • familiar with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
  • good listening skills
  • effective communication skills
  • strong typing skills are required to ensure information is collected with speed and accuracy
  • professional telephone manner

Note for potential candidates - The Kent Police Headquarters site will be sold and all members of staff currently working there will be redeployed to other workplaces and/or required to work in a more agile way. The new proposed location for FCR will be a Police Location located near Junction 5 on the M20, Maidstone. Staff will be redeployed to this location with an aim for this to be completed by June 2023, however this may be subject to change.
