Avencia Consulting for recruiting for a Junior Ceded Reinsurance Analyst to join a highly reputable insurer on a fixed term contract until the end of 2024.

The Company currently writes lines of business including; specialty insurance: aviation & aerospace, energy, marine, property, terror & political violence, contingency and other specialty lines; reinsurance: property reinsurance, property retrocession, specialty reinsurance, whole account/multi-class and bespoke.

The role

This role will form a key part of the Outwards Reinsurance Placement. The Ceded Reinsurance Analyst's role is to support the Ceded Reinsurance team in delivering high quality analytics for the Outwards Reinsurance programs. The analyst will work across a range of lines of business including Property D&F, Terror, Marine, Energy and Aviation.

The incumbent is expected to have experience with coding languages, data manipulation and data visualisation. Experience in the insurance market is desired but is not essential.

The candidate should enjoy problem solving and have a proactive approach. They should be willing to help and receptive to learning new skills.

Key accountabilities

  • Assist with the production of packs for Bespoke and Specialty Reinsurance placements. The packs contain premium and exposure profiles. Information is pulled from the policy admin system. SQL knowledge is required to pull and collate the data.
  • On a quarterly basis, monitor the packs and analyse quarterly movements in premium and exposure profiles.
  • Assist with automation projects and upkeep of tools. This could involve writing SQL scripts/stored procedures and building visualisations in Power BI.
  • Work collaboratively with other teams where their input is required for the packs. This would usually involve working with underwriting and modelling teams.

Skills & experience

  • Numerate background from either studies or work experience.
  • Experience in data analysis and modelling.
  • Experience writing scripts in a programming language. SQL is essential. R, Python beneficial.
  • Strong knowledge of the Microsoft Suite of applications with advanced Excel skills such as iterative formulae (nested ifs), multi-criteria lookups (index, match), sumifs and pivot tables. Power query/VBA experience beneficial.
  • Experience with Power BI is beneficial.
  • Strong analytical, organizational and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to engage with other key stakeholders across different functions within the organization.
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle a varied, fluctuating workload.
