Junior Java Developer | Permanent (Glasgow) Partly Remote

Office Work: Three days per week in Glasgow offices

Requirement:

  • 2+ years of experience
  • You will work primarily as a Java developer as part of a collaborative agile development team and you will be required to liaise directly with a variety of stakeholders throughout the firm
  • The Java Developer will work within the team and contribute to the development functionality in an iterative fashion, liaising with the business analysts, product owners and other developers within the scrum team
  • You will be responsible for helping to continuously improve the quality of our system and codebase 
  • You will develop systems that are critical to the business while being able to work with others to solve problems and meet the dynamic regulatory environment in which we do business.

The Java Developer will be required to possess the following skills:

  • Core Java (minimum Java 8 and ideally some Java 11) and Spring
  • Adopting a TDD approach to coding
  • Some understanding of UNIX systems and Shell Scripting. Being able to navigate on UNIX
  • CI/CD pipelines and related tools (eg Jenkins, GitLab, CircleCI)
  • Sound understanding of OOP design and SOLID principles
