Roles & Responsibilities

Role Mission: to assist and support the Communications Officer in the discharge of the Communications roadmaps for the company

Key activities of the intern role:

Creating and distributing of regular internal communications including newsletters, internal social media messages, intranet articles, milestone boards, digital signage
Organising and supporting events internally and in the local community which promote the brand including site visits, participation in the Cheltenham Science festival, employee photography competition

Supporting STEM activities: examples include providing suitable communications material for careers fairs and Women in Aerospace events, compiling success case studies for National Apprenticeship week)

General overview of Site Communications Team remit Brand communications:

In coordination with the UK national executive team, enhance and reinforce awareness of the brand in the UK aligned to Corporate parameters. Drive towards the vision of our client being perceived as the company/partner/employer of choice - a household name across the UK
Align company communications with the corporate identity and graphics standards.

Communications on products and services
Ensure all local and national communications on products comply with our client brand image, corporate identity and graphics standards

Liaise with Site Senior Management team (SLT) and Program Directors to deliver effective marketing and public relations support and materials
Contribute to and utilise appropriately the corporate Communications photograph and video collections

Organise the recognition and celebration of appropriate milestones in the life of a product or the company (e.g. deliver of 1000th gear, first delivery of new program, 80th year of site existence etc.), in coordination with other Group companies where appropriate.

Internal communications:
Deploy company communications as instructed
Develop engaging, innovative and imaginative company communications as required. Focus on verbal, written and visual display and communication.
Transmit information and business news to the corporate Communications team to provide content for internal and external communications which positively promotes the contribution and successes of the site and its employees
Actively promote and engage the site in the use of communications tools such as digital signage, social media, internet/intranet etc.
Lead and/or participate in continuous improvement and change projects which further the

Communications Agenda;

Supporting HR for recruiting communications and employer branding:
Jointly define employer brand and recruitment communications with the Human Resources Department to ensure alignment with corporate HR and Communications requirements
* Help organise and participate in local and national recruitment STEM events such as recruitment fairs and school career events, ensuring alignment with corporate HR and Communications requirements.

Media relations:
In coordination with the company's corporate Communication team, Board Directors and HR Director, manage any communications with the local or trade media as required
* Ensure prior notification to and approval of any intended media releases or press conferences from the corporate Communications team.

Site visits:
Ensure prior notification to the company and corporate Communications teams of planned visits by a local elected official or a local authority with a national mandate
Coordinate the organisation of site visits from internal and external officials/senior management personnel jointly between the Communications team and the site management.
