Homes for Students is a market leader in managing independent purpose built student accommodation (PBSA) The Company, since it was formed in October 2015, has secured 40,000 bed spaces across 160 properties with more than 50 different clients.

We are seeking an Internal Audit & Compliance Supervisor, working 40 hours per week, 9am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday.  This is really exciting role with scope to mould & grown your own department. Currently as part of our internal audit procedures we review the processes of our operations and finance teams and are keen to role these internal audits out throughout other areas of the business. This role will drive that process.

The suitable candidate will be responsible for compiling & presenting audits to the wider business, attending site visits to student properties & manage 1x FTE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and complete an audit visit, filling out the action plans with PMs
  • Attend monthly audit meetings on external sites
  • Reviewing assistants finance audits
  • Distribution of Audit results
  • Distribution of post audit action plans
  • Assist with any account queries
  • Training out some procedures
  • Post a monthly audit blog on internal intranet
  • Attend area/regional meetings on request to present/provide training
  • Monitoring reaudits progress
  • Liaising with Client Finance Teams & Building Relationships
  • Ensure adherence to company and regulatory requirements
  • Instrumental in development & improvement of systems & procedures
  • Assisting with Mobilisations during busy periods
  • Ensure the team is trained to achieve daily responsibilities
  • Ad-Hoc duties

The above outlines the main duties and responsibilities of the position, however, this cannot be comprehensive and other duties, as directed by the company and within the job holders capabilities may be required. The duties will evolve and be modified by changes within the company.

IT Skills:

  • Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Office (Excel skills are key in this role)
  • Accounting Packages - ideally Navision
  • Reporting Packages – ideally JET reports
  • An excellent level of IT understanding – ad-hoc packages are used within the function

Experience & Qualifications:

Essential:

  • Proven track record of Internal Audit/Quality Control
  • An eye for detail
  • Ability to

Desirable:

  • Holds or studying towards a Professional Audit Qualification
  • Experience of Microsoft Navision
  • 3+ Years Experience in an Audit Function
