Interim Assistant Director of Finance - Business Partnering

We are seeking an Interim Assistant Director of Finance to join the team of a leading local authority and play a pivotal role in shaping the financial future of the organisation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Finance Business Partnering Expertise: As an experienced Assistant Director, you will bring your successful track record and extensive knowledge of finance business partnering to our large and complex organisation. Your ability to collaborate with stakeholders and provide strategic financial advice will be crucial.
• Section 151 Responsibilities: You will lead on day-to-day Section 151 responsibilities on behalf of our Chief Finance Officer (CFO). This includes developing, reviewing, and monitoring the forward planning and preparation of our Council’s Medium-Term Financial Strategy and annual Revenue and Capital Budgets.
• Financial Sustainability Support: Our Directors rely on your expertise to ensure the financial sustainability of their services. You will address key financial challenges, identify opportunities, and provide actionable recommendations.
• Leadership Team Engagement: As a full and proactive member of our Finance and Commercial Services Leadership Team, you will contribute to cross-cutting priorities. Your strategic insights will shape our financial decisions and drive organisational success.
• Team Development: Line management, mentoring, and supporting team members will be a critical part of your role. You will foster growth, empower your team, and contribute to a positive work environment.

Qualifications:

• Qualified Accountant: You hold relevant professional qualifications and are a member of the registered body as defined in the Local Government Finance Act 1988 Registration.
• Section 151 Officer: Your expertise allows you to act as a Section 151 Officer, ensuring compliance and financial integrity.
