Henlee Resourcing is working in exclusive partnership with a highly respected and rapidly transforming engineering business, to recruit an Industrial and Employee Relations Manager into an exciting new role.

Accountable to the Head of HR, this new role will build and lead a team, to create a HR Advisory Centre of Excellence for the business! Then lead that CoE team, providing expertise, knowledge, and communications across all areas of IR & ER to the business, whilst building and maintaining positive relationships with the Trade Unions. This role will bring an external perspective on ER policy, ensuring that the organisation is proactive, maintaining orpushing ahead of trends and, that delivery of ER that is attuned to the needs of the workforce.

Summary of accountabilities:

  • Provide leadership, performance management and guidance to the ER and IR Team
  • Ensure that the ER and IR team are seen as experts in ER, ensuring adherence to company policies and procedures and employment law whilst balancing a commercial approach.
  • Create and implement the Industrial Relations and Employee Relations strategy.
  • Provide expert advice to the business on collective and local agreements and consultations.
  • Lead a team of advisors providing advice on employee relations, sharing good practice and coaching managers.
  • Establish key metrics with supporting data to share with business leaders and HRBP team to allow for informed decision making, identification of trends and areas of focus.
  • Evolve and embed the approach to managing ER so, that there is appropriate risk-based approach in place and that decisions are within risk appetite.
  • Upskill managers on how to effectively manage employee relations.
  • Provide technical expertise and advice to wider HR and the business.
  • Maintain strong engagement / relationships with the Unions on a formal and informal basis.
  • Work with the Unions to evolve relationships and facilitate organisational change & improvements.
  • Ensure legal compliance across all facets of Industrial and Employee Relations
  • Provide expertise and advice to change projects.
  • Support HR with ongoing transformation projects.

"We need an inspiring and confident Industrial Relations expert". A professional, who can hit the ground running, with proven and significant success across the full spectrum of ER and IR, gained within heavy engineering / manufacturing (or similar type) environments.

You will be a people leader and a highly effective negotiator and influencer, adept handling difficult, demanding, and complex negotiations with Unions, coupled with a proven record of accomplishment in creating 'win/win' solutions and avoiding industrial action.

You will also be an enthusiastic supporter of workforce involvement and employee engagement, an excellent project manager, a strong analyst, creative and innovative in your approach and a strong presenter, confident, credible, and able to quickly capture and retain the attention of varying levels of audience / stakeholder.
