The firm have multiple offices across Scotland and are currently looking to recruit within their Glasgow branch, based on the outskirts of Glasgow city centre. Your new role


In your new role as Indirect Tax Senior Manager, the key duties will include:

  • Actively manage and control the delivery of all aspects of assignments for a variety of clients, including resourcing the assignments and setting timescales and budgets, liaison between departments of the firm, and presentation of work to clients
  • Know your clients and be able to recognise significant issues in their circumstances or operations and consider the best possible recommendations for their solution
  • Develop expertise and undertake detailed technical research of an advanced nature as required, and present this clearly at client meetings or in written form, offer practical solutions and recommendations with due regard for risk
  • Take responsibility for the timely delivery of advisory and compliance services to your clients
  • Delegate work effectively to team members, monitor progress of their work, and assume responsibility for the quality of their work, providing guidance and on the job training as required
  • Coach and support the team by sharing knowledge, identifying training needs and ensuring on the job training and development opportunities are actioned
  • Work in an agile way to manage workload and ensure delivery to the clients' satisfaction
  • Produce work of a high technical standard, deliver high quality services to clients, offer practical solutions and recommendations and leading edge opportunities
  • Make effective business decisions in relation to the management of your team
  • Manage the key performance indicators for yourself and your team
  • Identify and progress opportunities to promote the business in the marketplace, seeking new opportunities for the firm and securing new work, with the support of the business development team
  • Assist with the marketing strategy of the firm
  • Be an ambassador for the firm, taking opportunities for networking and client entertaining events
  • Identify where the firm is exposed to risk, look for efficiencies, improve procedures, propose recommendations and solutions and take a leading role in the implementation of change
  • Manage and support the team in all aspects of a client portfolio working alongside the client engagement team ensuring all client deadlines and demands are met
  • Take ownership of client portfolio, continuing to develop relationships with clients and their wider professional network to ensure satisfaction with services provided, working alongside client's advisors, and identifying opportunities to support clients
  • Take ownership and responsibility for delivery of all aspects of client work from start to finish, in relation to any tax support required, on budget
  • Manage all tax correspondence related to clients and ensure client queries are dealt with in a timely basis
  • Review all aspects of indirect tax compliance, identifying opportunities for clients which are aligned with their goals and aspirations
  • Take responsibility for the delivery of specialist advisory and project work to a high technical standard, writing in a clear concise manner, providing alternative options and concluding on recommendations
  • Maintain and develop technical knowledge, undertaking research of new legislation, identifying opportunities for clients and advising accordingly
  • Be a vital part the management team, involved with the day-to-day operations of the team, ensuring financial and utilisation targets and deadlines are met and assist with delivering the strategic objectives of the department and wider firm
  • Understand of the wider services of the firm, identifying opportunities and presenting these to clients
  • Take responsibility for delivery of blogs and technical articles relevant to particular technical expertise
  • Deliver feedback both motivational and developmental to all members of the team


What you'll need to succeed


The ideal candidate will have experience working in a similar role and have excellent technical knowledge of both compliance and advisory work. The ideal candidate will be comfortable overseeing and supervising a team of more junior staff and co-ordinating the delivery of services. You will be comfortable carrying out a berth of client-facing work being able to build and maintain strong client relationships.
