Are you a forward-thinking individual passionate about improving outcomes for children in need of protection? Southend City Council invites applications for the position of Child Protection Conference Chair within our Quality and Practice service.

About the Role:

As the Child Protection Conference Chair, you will play a pivotal role in driving improved outcomes for the children of Southend. This full-time, permanent position involves chairing child protection conferences and Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) meetings. You will utilize your broad knowledge of statutory children's social work to ensure the welfare and safety of vulnerable children in our city.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Chairing face-to-face child protection conferences and LADO meetings at the Civic Centre.
  • Collaborating with social work teams and other stakeholders to safeguard children and promote their well-being.
  • Providing expert guidance and support to ensure that child protection procedures are followed effectively.
  • Driving continuous improvement in practice to enhance outcomes for children in need of protection.
  • Contributing to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to safeguard children.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with relevant registered body ( SWE)
  • Minimum 5 years post qualified experienced in statutory children's social work, with experience working with children in need of protection.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to chair meetings effectively.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child protection.
  • Experience in managing a team is preferable but not essential.
  • Ability to work office-based three days a week at the Civic Centre.
