About Us:

East Cambridgeshire District Council is an ambitious and forward-thinking Council with a number of exciting initiatives and projects in the pipeline. The Council has two local authority trading companies, providing extra challenges and opportunities for the authority.

Independent Person – The Role:

For this role, the Council offers an allowance of £2,000 per annum plus expenses. The Audit Committee is expected to meet four times per year. Development sessions (usually online) and occasional other meetings are held outside this cycle.

The independent person will work alongside the elected councillors on the Committee and will have a critical role to play in ensuring that the Council has robust governance and systems in place. Amongst its roles the Audit Committee reviews the Authority’s financial affairs, risk management, internal control and corporate governance arrangements.

Independent Person – You:

- Experience in audit, risk management, performance management, and corporate and financial governance and controls

- Demonstrated ability to think strategically, analyse information, and question effectively

- Effective interpersonal skills and high standards of personal integrity

- Opportunity to gain insight into how the Council operates
