Independent Chair
London Borough of Newham are seeking an exceptional senior leader to provide independent leadership and guidance to the Newham Transformation and Improvement Board as the Independent Chair. The successful candidate will be responsible for attending bi-monthly board meetings and providing independent advice, support, and constructive challenges to NTIB partners and organisations. The Independent Chair will be innovative, confident, and consistent in their approach to ensure that transformational workstreams and associated governance groups get clear strategic leadership and guidance.
Responsibilities- Provide independent leadership and guidance to the Newham Transformation and Improvement Board
- Attend bi-monthly board meetings and provide independent advice, support, and constructive challenges to NTIB partners and organisations
- Ensure rigorous delivery of the councils improvement and transformation agenda
- Maintain productive and constructive relationships and cohere effort through all the parties in the Board
- Ensure that effective cost controls are maintained throughout delivery
- Experience at CEO level of a Local Authority or equivalent
- Experience in leading improvement, transformation, and financial oversight of an organisation
- Extensive senior-level experience of working in and influencing the public sector
- Ability to think laterally when evaluating options and impacts
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and negotiation skills
- Strong track record of building credibility quickly with a wide range of stakeholders
- A relevant degree or equivalent qualification
The Independent Chair of the Newham Transformation and Improvement Board will receive a day rate of £800 per day (inside IR35) with a two days a month commitment.
