London Fire Brigade, one of the largest public sector organisations based in London are looking to recruit an ICT Infrastructure Analyst to join their team. The role is for an initial 3-month contract with a view for further extensions if all goes well. The role is based on 12 hours shift patterns 4 shifts and 4 shifts off. (2 days will be 7am -7pm followed by 2 nights 7pm - 7am then will have 4 days off). Full time based in the office due to the nature of the role and the office is based just outside South Wimbledon Station.

Pay rate: £29.21 per hour PAYE or £37.42 per hour Umbrella

Job Purpose:

The ICT Infrastructure Analyst will help support the delivery of high-quality ICT services is crucial to the efficient, effective and economic achievement of the Brigade's key purpose. In particular, certain ICT systems such as the Brigade Mobilising system and infrastructure, ICT Data suite and associated infrastructure and the Brigade network all have a direct bearing on the Brigade’s ability to provide efficient firefighting, rescue and fire prevention services to the people of London.

Principal accountabilities:

  • To work as part of a team ensuring that an efficient ‘Operations Support’ service is provided at all times; to allocate work and determine priorities; providing guidance in current and correct operational practice.
  • To carry out the duties of the post in line with the Brigade's agreed policies in particular its Equality Strategy; Attendance Management and Heath and Safety.
  • To conduct the team's business in an efficient, effective and economic manner at all times to secure Value for Money in the provision of services whilst complying with the Brigades’ Standing Orders and other procedural requirements.
  • To provide for the day to day performance of an ‘efficient’ and ‘effective’ 24/7  Operations Support  function.  Specifically, this will involve being responsible on a day to day basis for the monitoring of the authorities mobilising system, network and server infrastructure.
  • To deal with a broad range of exception and error conditions, making decisions as necessary about the way to resolve them, bearing in mind the need to maintain the highest possible availability.
  • To carry out and instigate improvements to operational and fault logging procedures ensuring that all faults are logged and resolved in an efficient and timely manner. 
  • To assist in the research and drafting of new or updated procedures.
  • To assist and advise users and other staff on the installation of equipment and the correct approach to take in resolving problems, using experience and technical understanding of the systems involved, ensuring that all relevant documentation is up to date and complete and producing additional documentation where necessary.
  • To take an active role in planning the operational aspects of new or enhanced systems including any operational acceptance tests.
  • To ensure that physical security is adhered to within the computer operations areas.
  • To co-ordinate planned preventative housekeeping duties and maintenance procedures on all defined systems ensuring that they are carried out as scheduled and in accordance with the Brigade Request for Change procedure.
