Job Purpose:

To be responsible for on-time integration and validation of HV charging systems at a vehicle level. of all HV Distribution, DCDC converters and on-vehicle charging systems and their integration into vehicle and to the grid across all AML programmes

Key Duties & Responsibilities:

  • To define, own and deliver HV On-Board Charging & DCDC conversion system compliance through integration and validation on vehicle.
  • Responsible for validating charging system and feature in electric vehicle covering interoperability and communication for AC and DC Charging standards.
  • Working with component owners (OBC/DCDC, battery, Powertrain Controller) to define test strategy, develop test plans, test cases based on charging requirements
  • Execute AC and DC system software testing on vehicle to validate software release cycle
  • Debugging, leading and owning the responsibility of finding solution to interoperability issues
  • Perform post charging test data analysis and present the findings using data visualization tool
  • Clearly communicate test results, collaborate with stakeholders globally to discuss issues detected and work on next action plan
  • Track the issues observed in testing, participate in triaging those with software developers/system engineers for root cause identification and its solution
  • Acquire and evaluate competitor benchmark information to influence concept creation in early project phases
  • Train, coach and present technical information and share the knowledge throughout AML
  • Develop and record best practices and lead integration of all HV Distribution, DCDC conversion and on-vehicle charging system to handle the Powertrain Electrification requirements of today and the future

Qualification & Experience:

  • An understanding of charging technology and/or power electronics (i.e.AC/DC charging, DC/DC topologies)
  • Experience and technical background in EV vehicle operation, charging ecosystem, EVSE
  • Knowledge of all relevant vehicle legislation and certification requirements for automotive HV Distribution, DCDC converters and on-vehicle charging systems and their integration
  • Lead integration of charging strategies and charging profiles
  • Experience validating software for charging power electronics with working voltages up to 1000V and power ratings in excess of 250kW
  • Deep understanding of electrical signals, CAN, LIN, Ethernet, PLC Communication, and use of tools such as CANaylzer/ CANoe, Wireshark, CANape, Comemso EVCA, Keysight CDS etc
  • Knowledge of latest IEC61851, J1772, DIN70121, ISO15118, GB/T, CHAdeMO charging protocols
  • Hands on experience of working with LV and HV systems.
  • HV Distribution, DCDC converters and charging system development for high performance hybrid and/or electric vehicles
  • Understanding of hybrid and electric powertrain system functionalities and attributes at vehicle, system and component levels
  • Automotive powertrain electrical, electronic and mechanical integration knowledge, including:
  • Automotive electrical design and development
  • Automotive battery technology and requirements including battery protection systems
  • Vehicle fusing, relays, harness and connectors
  • Leading of design verification plans ensuring timely completion of Final Engineering Sign off
  • Component Releasing and Change Control management
  • Leading engagement with engineering partners working on power management commodities
  • Proven technical knowledge related to charging system (requirements, stakeholders)
  • Experience of test automation toolchains
  • Knowledge of vehicle level architectures and automotive networks
  • Experience in applying Systems Engineering and in solving complex technical issues using a structured approach
  • Use of test equipment to support electrical and electronic system testing
  • Strong user of MATLAB/Simulink
  • Responsibility in Formula Student/SAE team
  • Engineering Degree in Electrical, Electronic and/or related field
  • High Voltage Senior Authorised Person Qualification
