HR Advisor - Hybrid Working

We are working with a world leading organisation on the lookout for a dynamic HR Advisor to join their site near Liverpool Street. This is an incredible opportunity to join a well-known, global company within a fantastic team.

Reporting directly into the HR Business Partner, this is a great opportunity to provide expert HR advice to managers and colleagues across all business areas on policies, procedures, employment law and best practice. You will guide and support, evaluate risks and provide advice on a wide range of topics. This will include a broad range of HR matters including probation, disciplinary, grievance, performance management, recruitment, attendance and engagement.

Alongside this, you will also assist the HR Business Partner team with employee engagement, strategy and other such projects as required. Alongside enabling managers to achieve positive results by giving clear direction around engagement with our colleagues.

The post holder will need to be a self-starter and it is expected you will stay up to date with changes in UK employment law, as well as being confident working with Trade Unions. To that end, you will have excellent stakeholder management and pride yourself on your ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with stakeholders across the wider business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as the first point of contact for managers on operational HR and Employee Relations queries
  • Advising managers on carrying out investigations, disciplinary hearings and grievance meetings, attending meetings and taking notes where appropriate
  • Advising managers in managing sickness absence cases, both short and long term, attending meetings and taking notes where appropriate
  • Assisting managers with writing Occupational Health referrals and conducting Return to Work
  • Working with HR Administrators and OH to ensure smooth management of Occupational Health appointments
  • Providing comprehensive HR advice to employees and responding to queries relating to their employment and terms and conditions of service
  • Advising managers on probation process and related employment law matters, participating in meetings and providing support to employees as identified by the manager
  • Advising managers on setting probationary SMART objectives and signposting managers to support available for employees as appropriate
  • Providing appropriate documentation to line managers with employees entering and going through their probation period. Collating and checking that all paperwork is fully completed in line with the probationary timeline
  • Participating in the full recruitment and selection cycle including advertising, shortlisting, assessments, interviewing and offering employment where necessary
  • Advising recruiting managers on employment matters during the recruitment and selection cycle, with particular reference to Equality and Inclusion
  • As directed by the People and Culture Team, develop and refine new and existing Policies and Procedures
  • Implement HR Policies and Procedures through working with managers and employees
  • Providing cover for other HR Advisors and deputising for the HR Business Partner as required
  • Working with People and Culture colleagues to create and develop MI reports as required, e.g. attendance, headcount, Equality and Inclusion
  • With the HR Business Partner and Senior HR Business Partner, working with managers to discuss MI requirements
  • Continuously build a working relationship with local Trade Union representatives
  • Advising managers on managing the leavers processes, paying close attention to employment law issues that arise. This could include conduct and capability dismissals, redundancy, retirement, resignations and death in service.
  • Participating in the delivery of Learning and Development programmes as directed by People and Culture Leadership team
  • Creating and designing learning materials as directed by People and Culture team

KEY SKILLS

  • Part CIPD qualified (or equivalent) or a willingness to undertake this
  • Proven experience of working with full range of employee lifecycle processes
  • Experience of using a HR Information System, preferably iTrent
  • Up-to-date knowledge and proven application of UK employment legislation
  • Confidence to consult with appropriate stakeholders to arrive at an answer, knowing when to escalate for advice
  • Ability to meet deadlines consistently and handle conflicting multiple tasks
  • Ability to prioritise in a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent attention to detail and quality awareness
  • Proven experience of working with Trades Union
