REED Business Support are actively recruiting on behalf of an established housing association for a Housing Officer.

This is an excellent opportunity for an individual with experience within the housing sector & strong people skills. 

As a Housing Officer your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Provide an intensive housing management service for both rented and leasehold properties for older people, including customer inductions. Undertake effective customer viewings, to contribute towards timely void management, complete allocations and manage low level anti-social behaviour in line with relevant policies and procedures. 
  • Understand and apply tenancy law for example, as it relates to abandonment, assignment, succession, mutual exchange and tenancy terminations. Help customers sustain their tenancy/lease and their independence by providing advice on their rights and responsibilities and taking appropriate early intervention action when required. Work with our Community Safety Teams, as appropriate, when enforcement action is necessary.
  • Ensure all alarm equipment is working effectively. Manage the local alarm systems through liaising with the social alarm monitoring provider to give and receive up to date information regarding customer data, customer welfare, switch over and receive back responsibility of the scheme/s and the testing of equipment. Responding to any social alarm calls, or other emergencies and providing the necessary follow up as required.
  • Undertake ongoing monitoring of estate contracts, such as lift maintenance, fire safety equipment, social alarm repairs and communal cleaning. Complete weekly and monthly inspections of communal areas and schemes. Ensure that all issues relating to fire risk, health & safety and repairs are documented and acted upon and own them through to completion.  
  • Regularly monitor budgets, including service charges, in conjunction with the finance team. Purchase goods and supplies ensuring costs are kept within budget and maintain the financial regulations.
  • Carry out consultations with customers on scheme issues, such as environmental improvements, and encourage and enable customers to participate in decisions that affect their overall services. 
  • Assess and monitor residents’ needs and wellbeing on an on-going basis.
  • Respond to any safeguarding or wellbeing concerns.
  • Create local engagement plans.
  • Develop networks with statutory and voluntary agencies. Develop positive working relationships with other organisations and customer’s relatives.
  • Provide cover for other schemes according to the requirements of the team and department. 
  • Manage the use of local scheme facilities such as the guest room, laundry and communal lounge facilities.
