Pay Rate: £318 per day

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours per week.  Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm, initial contract: 5 months

Main Duties of the Hong Kong Bn(O) Liaison Officer:

  • The HK BN(O) Liaison Officer will operate within the Migrant Education/Employment & Adult Skills team and contribute to the efforts of the (cross-council) Migration Partnership
  • Acting as a vital link between the HK BN(O) diaspora in Oxfordshire and the focal points of the Migrant Employment & Adult Skills and Migrant Education programs.
  • Collaborating with Migrant Education Researchers on 16-19 academic pathways, careers, and school EAL provision.
  • Establishing connections with Employment teams within the Council and community to assist HK BN(O)s in finding suitable employment.
  • Assisting the Media Administrator in producing English/Cantonese copy with Education and Employment support and guidance.
  • Operating within the OCC Education/Employment & Adult Skills team.
  • Elevating the profile of the HK BN(O) diaspora's data, issues, and achievements with the cross-council Migration Partnership.
  • Working closely with the Media and Communications Administrator to create website copy in English/Cantonese with relevant links, as well as content for trusted HK BN(O) websites.
  • Collaborating with School Migrant Academic Pathways and Careers Specialists, particularly for the 16-19 age group in 6th form colleges, and with the OCC EET Officer to develop quality information and guidance and address specific issues of the BNO diaspora.
  • Partnering with the EAL Researcher to identify BNO diaspora-specific issues through the Migrant Education project.
  • Encouraging participation in employment workshops and talks via the Migrant Employment project, with invitations extended to HK BN(O)s.
  • Engaging with the Hong Kong BN(O) community to address obstacles faced by individuals encountering difficulties accessing ESOL college courses.
  • Undertaking other relevant tasks as directed by their line manager.

 Requirements of the Hong Kong Bn(O) Liaison Officer:

  • Knowledge and firsthand experience of Hong Kong culture
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written Cantonese
  • Possession of a current driving license
  • DBS clearance
