The ideal HLTA for this vacancy should have previous experience working with SEN students, in order to meet the needs of each student you will have to be adaptable and understanding. This is a complex mixed needs special secondary school; all students have severe or moderate learning disabilities, and every student has an Educational Healthcare Plan (EHCP).
Students have a variety of needs including Downs Syndrome, Autistic Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and Physical Disabilities.

The successful HLTA will be expected to support students, manage behaviour and deliver lessons where needed. Ages range from 11 to 19 and as a HLTA you will need to ensure that you are allowing students to reach their full potential by helping students with literacy and numeracy as well as communication, as it will be a key factor when they eventually start seeking employment. The school runs a work experience programme for key stage 5 students to help students get a feel for different working environments and the aim is for them to gain as much independence as possible.

If you are a HLTA and feel that you are suitable for this role, please get in touch.
