Job Title: History Teacher

Location: Oldham, Greater Manchester, UK

Job Type: Full-time, Permanent

Salary: £150-£200 per day

Job Description:

teach195. are working with a fantastic Secondary School in Oldham, seeking a knowledgeable and passionate History Teacher to start a September role at the school. As a History Teacher, you will inspire students to explore the past, develop critical thinking skills, and understand the relevance of historical events and movements to the present day.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan, deliver, and assess engaging and informative History lessons, covering a range of topics and periods from ancient civilisations to contemporary world events.
  • Foster an appreciation for historical inquiry, encouraging students to analyse primary and secondary sources, consider multiple perspectives, and construct well-reasoned arguments supported by evidence.
  • Utilise a variety of teaching methods and resources, including textbooks, multimedia, historical documents, and role-playing activities, to bring history to life and engage students in active learning experiences.
  • Integrate social, cultural, political, and economic dimensions into the study of history, helping students understand the complexities and interconnectedness of historical events and developments.
  • Differentiate instruction to meet the diverse needs and abilities of students, providing additional support and extension opportunities as necessary to ensure all learners reach their full potential.
  • Assess student progress through a combination of formative and summative assessments, providing constructive feedback to support their development and achievement in History.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to share best practices, resources, and ideas for enhancing the teaching and learning of History across the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent teaching qualification, specialising in History or a related field.
  • Relevant degree in History, Humanities, or a related discipline.
  • Experience teaching History at the secondary level is preferred.
  • Strong subject knowledge and a passion for history education.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment, promoting empathy, critical thinking, and historical literacy.
  • Willingness to contribute to the wider school community through extracurricular activities and enrichment opportunities.
