HGV Mechanic

HGV Mechanic needed in Bedford, £17.16ph PAYE - Reference: 5245810

 37 hours per week abased on a four day week (Mon - Fri) with a rolling day off.

1. Carry out maintenance and repairs on various items of specialist and auxiliary equipment.

2. Inspect, maintain and repair vehicles to meet legal requirements and standards laid down by the Department of Transport, Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency and Goods Vehicle Operator Licence Regulations

3. Undertake fault diagnosis and repairs on vehicles, plant and equipment including electrical and pneumatic systems.

4. Attend off site vehicle breakdowns and apply appropriate recovery methods.

5. Interpret technical service data, manufacturers manuals and complex electrical drawings and diagrams.

6. Complete all relevant documentation in line with legal requirements and policies and procedures.

7. Identify the need and specify replacement parts and administer the issue of parts from stock or via external suppliers

8. Ensure defect procedures are adhered to, sign off defect sheets ensuring safety, roadworthiness standards and vehicle serviceability is maintained

9. Maintain safe working practices within the Workshop and adhere to Health and Safety regulations and Company Policy

10. Accurately complete electronic job cards and repair time – input jobs cards onto Tranman maintenance system

This is a full time role on a temporary contract basis.
