Summary of the HGV Maintenance Manager role:
  • Full Time
  • Permanent
  • Office-based in Wolverhampton
  • Salaried between £45k to £55k per annum

Desirable Qualities of the HGV Maintenance Manager:
  • Technical Expertise: understanding of engine mechanics, transmissions, electrical systems, hydraulics and other vehicle components
  • Safety Focus: commitment to ensuring the fleet complies with safety regulations and best practices
  • Organisational Skills: to manage parts inventory, schedule maintenance, and keep effective records of vehicle history
  • Computer literate with excellent communication skills. Capability to read and understand the technical specifications and drawings for the electrical, hydraulic and mechanical equipment.
Key Duties of the HGV Maintenance Manager:
  • Maintain and adhere to the service schedule for machinery in line with manufactures guidelines and our maintenance management system.
  • To negotiate and uphold favourable pricing terms and delivery schedules with suppliers to ensure cost-effective procurement
  • To encourage a culture of continuous improvement within the maintenance team, gathering feedback from team members and seek ways to streamline processes, enhance efficiency and reduce maintenance costs
  • To administer records relating to purchase orders, invoices, delivery notes and supplier agreements
  • Create, implement and manage, a system to audit and review fleet compliance systems to ensure they are effective and adhered to
  • To maintain vehicle status and availability records, in addition to the coordination of service planning and MOT’s
  • Report any Health & Safety or misuse of the machinery issues of any kind to the Safety, Health, Environment & Quality Manager or Site Operations Manager
  • To generate reports to track parts usage and sales, to forecast spend and sales trends
  • To collaborate with team members to make decisions regarding repairs, parts replacements and maintenance priorities
  • To manage equipment and parts inventory
  • To identify and source reputable suppliers and vendors for HGV parts and accessories
  • To encourage the adoption of innovative solutions that can enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the maintenance process
  • To partake in other duties reasonably required as part of the role
