HGV Class 1 Driver

Workchain, a leading UK-based recruitment agency, is currently seeking a skilled HGV Class 1 Driver on an ongoing contract for our esteemed client in Burton Upon Trent. This particular company are well known within the Midlands and have successfully operated within the area for many years. They deal with timber products and pallet logistics and as a result, strapping experience is needed. The position may lead to a permanent contract for the right person.


Responsibilities

  • Delivering a collecting timber pallets with little to no handball and use of pump truck

  • Safely and efficiently operate a HGV Class 1 vehicle, adhering to all relevant regulations and guidelines

  • Undertake daily vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and report any issues promptly

  • Plan and execute assigned routes in a timely and responsible manner, following delivery schedules as instructed

  • Load and unload cargo, ensuring its secure transportation

  • Provide exceptional customer service by maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor while interacting with clients and stakeholders

  • Accurately complete all necessary paperwork and maintain comprehensive records of deliveries and collections

  • Comply with company policies and procedures, including health and safety requirements

  • Collaborate with the logistics team to ensure the efficient flow of goods and materials

  • Any other related duties as assigned by the employer


Requirements for the role

  • Hold a valid HGV Class 1 licence with relevant certification and up-to-date CPC qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years experience and on licence 

  • No more than 6 points on licence 

  • Proven experience as an HGV Class 1 driver, preferably within a similar role

  • Demonstrable knowledge of current regulations and legislation relating to goods transportation. Excellent driving skills and a strong commitment to maintaining high standards of safety on the road

  • Exceptional time management and organizational abilities, with the capacity to meet tight deadlines

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, capable of professionally representing the company

  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and independently, displaying a responsible and flexible attitude

  • Strapping experience (Advantageous)


Hours of work

  • Monday to Friday 

  • 6am starts with shifts between 8 and 10 hours a day
