Kent Fire and Rescue Service (KFRS) has an exciting opportunity available for a Health & Safety Assistant Advisor to join our team based Countywide. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis, and in return, you will receive a competitive salary of £30,164 - £34,061 per annum plus on-call allowance.

About the role:

As a Health & Safety Assistant Advisor, you will work with a variety of people across Kent Fire and Rescue Service, building trusted relationships with stakeholders and leverage data to promote excellent H&S practice.

Working as part of a team of 3 Advisors, you will support a variety of stations and departments: providing H&S expertise to managers and colleagues alike. This role is ideal if you are looking for the first steps into a career in H&S.

Hours: 37 hours per week (Monday to Friday with occasional evening and   weekend working, and additional 1 week in 4 On-call)

As our Health & Safety Assistant Advisor, you will be responsible for

  • Supporting the Authority in meeting its Health and Safety obligations
  • Building and maintaining trusted relationships with stakeholders to influence and promote good H&S practice
  • Supporting the health, safety and wellbeing of our teams
  • Providing advice, support and guidance to managers and colleagues to ensure their understanding of key H&S policies and procedures (e.g. the H&S management system, the general risk assessment requirements but in particular manual handling, COSHH, and noise assessment and accident investigations)

What we’re looking for in ourHealth & Safety Assistant Advisor:

  • Be qualified in H&S, Nebosh Certificate or equivalent Level 3 qualifications
  • Knowledge of application of H&S concepts, practices and processes
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of H&S legislation
  • Good communication skills
  • A full UK driving licence
